Message From Our Director

(Tournament Cancellation)

After careful consideration regarding the health and safety of everyone involved in our tournament, the employees of Algoma Steel, and our community at large, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Bring a Doctor Home Tournament, originally scheduled for January 17th to the 23rd. This was a tough call to make as each year we all look forward to the excitement and camaraderie the tournament generates.

With increased and overwhelming concerns about COVID-19, we felt that this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation. We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold this event for our community, but we know it’s the right decision based on current public health information. Now more than ever – we need to prioritize the health and safety of our community, family and work place.

We want to take a moment to thank each and every individual who have supported the tournament throughout the years. We want to assure you that we are committed to keeping our tournament alive and stronger than ever - once it is safe to do so. In the meantime, we urge you to please continue practicing Algoma Public Health’s (APH) recommendations to keep our community safe:

1. Practice physical distancing

2. Limit/know and track your close contacts

3. If you feel sick, stay home

4. Wash hands frequently and thoroughly

5. Wear a mask in enclosed public space

We look forward to our next face off on the ice with the common goal of fundraising to support students at Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) in the future.

Stay Safe,

Frank DeMarco
